Fashion Statement...

I've been trying to grab a picture of one of these for ages and finally lucked out. Ladies and gents, I give you ..... the short-sleeved suit coat! In addition to the bold pattern worn below by my unsuspecting model, this stylish garment comes in a whole array of other colors. Whether it's plain black, olive green, blue pinstripe, or covered in colorful designs, I assure you that this style is the height of men's fashion here. I know it's a bit different from anything you'd find in America, but I love it for 2 reasons: 1. it makes sense (we're in Africa, after all, if you think wearing a full length suit coat is hot where you're working, imagine wearing it in Africa ... and without air-conditioning!) and 3. the clothing here is so much more colorful and vibrant than clothing in the US, and I think it's beautiful.


I will admit that (compared to the women) the men might have gotten the short end of the stick as far as fashions go here, but that's probably true in most parts of the world. Then again, maybe being female has made me biased. I'll let you all be the judges though - Tanzania Vogue, the female edition, coming soon!
