I arrived in Phoenix on Tuesday (May 20), expecting to meet Jake at the curb but was pleasantly surprised to find Jake AND George (!!!) waiting for me in the arrivals area inside the airport :) A few minutes later, I got my first taste of the Arizona heat - I had missed the record high (110 degrees) by one day, but the temperature was still above 100...and - as Jake was baffled to find out - I couldn't have been happier. Too many days of rain or cold or rainy cold in New Jersey had left me itching for some nice sunny weather, so Phoenix was exactly what the doctor ordered :) We spent our first day in the Phoenix area...Jake introduced me to fry bread (delicious!), we drove out to Taliesin West (but decided that not even a Frank Lloyd Wright creation was worth a $30 tour), and did some hiking:

A Week out West
